Jim “Catfish” Hunter was an outstanding baseball player, known not only for his pitching career, but also his batting ability. Batting and throwing right-handed, Jimmy made his American League pitching debut on May 13, 1965.

History of JCHALSF
Jim Hunter of Hertford, N.C. became “Catfish” when professional baseball owner Charlie Finley thought he needed a flashy handle. The people back home in Hertford knew a name wouldn’t change Jim. And it never did.
